The Three Principles of Total Life Energy™
The Three Principles of Total Life Energy™ are Build Life Energy, Free the Flow of Life Energy, and Sustain Both. Together, they provide a simple framework for understanding how food, exercise, daily living, and other aspects of life can support lasting health.
Build Life Energy. Free Its Flow. Sustain Both.
Health is not simply the absence of illness.
It is the body’s ability to live, function, adapt, recover, and maintain itself with sufficient Life Energy™.
But how do we support Life Energy throughout an entire lifetime?
How do we know whether something we eat, practice, or do every day is helping or hurting us?
Total Life Energy provides a simple framework:
Build Life Energy.
Free Its Flow.
Sustain Both.
These are the Three Principles of Total Life Energy™.
They provide a way to understand health, healing, prevention, and daily living.
They also provide a way to evaluate our choices.
Instead of asking only:
“Is this healthy?”
we can ask three deeper questions:
Does this help build Life Energy?
Does this help free the flow of Life Energy?
Can I sustain both over the long term?
This simple framework can be applied to food, exercise, sleep, work, emotions, habits, relationships, environment, and virtually every aspect of daily life.
What Are the Three Principles?
The Three Principles are:
1. Build Life Energy
Cultivate and increase the Life Energy needed for life.
2. Free the Flow of Life Energy
Help Life Energy move and function appropriately throughout the body and life.
3. Sustain Both
Preserve and maintain both the amount and free flow of Life Energy over time.
These principles work together.
They are not three separate stages that we complete one at a time.
They are three aspects of healthy living that need to operate continuously.
Why Life Energy Comes First
As we explored in earlier articles, the universe and all of nature operate through energy.
Life Energy is the energy that makes living beings alive and active.
It enables us to:
- live
- move
- think
- digest
- work
- grow
- recover
- adapt
- maintain the body
- carry out daily activities
When Life Energy is abundant and functioning properly, the body has a stronger foundation for health.
When Life Energy becomes insufficient or cannot function properly, the body becomes increasingly vulnerable.
This is why Total Life Energy begins with Life Energy itself.
Rather than starting with a particular disease, symptom, food, exercise, or treatment, we begin with the fundamental conditions that support life.
Principle One: Build Life Energy
The first principle is:
BUILD LIFE ENERGY
The body needs Life Energy continuously.
Therefore, we need ways to cultivate and replenish it.
Food can contribute.
Rest can contribute.
Appropriate exercise can contribute.
Sleep can contribute.
A suitable environment can contribute.
A harmonious daily rhythm can contribute.
Healthy emotional and mental patterns can contribute.
The goal is to create conditions in which the body can obtain and cultivate the Life Energy it needs.
Building Is More Than Adding Something
“Build” does not simply mean adding more of something.
More food is not necessarily more nourishment.
More exercise is not necessarily more health.
More sleep is not necessarily better if the timing and circumstances are inappropriate.
More supplements do not necessarily mean more Life Energy.
Building means supporting the body’s ability to cultivate the energy needed for life.
Therefore, the question is not:
“How can I get more?”
It is:
“How can I appropriately build the Life Energy my body needs?”
This distinction is essential.
What Can Build Life Energy?
Many aspects of life can contribute to building Life Energy when they are appropriate for the individual.
Food
Appropriate food provides nourishment.
Rest
Appropriate rest gives the body opportunities to restore itself.
Sleep
Natural nighttime rest supports the body’s daily rhythm.
Movement
Appropriate movement can strengthen and cultivate the body.
Emotional Harmony
Reducing unnecessary emotional depletion can preserve resources needed elsewhere.
Environment
A suitable environment can support rather than continually challenge the body.
Daily Rhythm
Living in harmony with natural rhythms can help the body use its resources appropriately.
This is why no single health practice can replace everything else.
Principle Two: Free the Flow of Life Energy
The second principle is:
FREE THE FLOW OF LIFE ENERGY
Having Life Energy is not enough.
It must also be able to move and function appropriately.
Imagine having water in a system but the water cannot flow where it is needed.
The existence of the water alone does not solve the problem.
Life Energy similarly needs to be able to flow and be used appropriately.
This is why TLE considers both:
how much Life Energy we have
and
how freely it can flow and function.
What Can Interfere With the Flow?
Many things may interfere with healthy energy flow.
For example:
- prolonged inactivity
- excessive strain
- inappropriate exercise
- unhealthy habits
- emotional tension
- poor daily rhythms
- unsuitable environmental conditions
- physical imbalance
- insufficient recovery
The important point is that we should not look at any single factor in isolation.
The individual body and its circumstances must be considered.
Movement Can Free Life Energy
Appropriate movement is one way to support the flow of Life Energy.
But this does not mean:
More exercise = more energy.
In fact, excessive or inappropriate exercise can consume more Life Energy than the body can comfortably support.
The goal is appropriate movement.
This is one reason Life Energy Exercise™ is not simply about working harder.
It is about understanding what kind of movement the body needs.
Rest Can Also Free Life Energy
At first, this may seem surprising.
We often associate movement with energy flow and rest with inactivity.
But rest is not the opposite of healthy activity.
The body needs appropriate periods of activity and rest.
Following natural rhythms allows different functions to occur at appropriate times.
This is why the principles of TLE cannot be reduced to exercise.
Life Energy Exercise™ and Life Energy Living™ work together.
Emotional Life Also Matters
Our emotional experiences can influence how we use Life Energy.
Persistent worry, anger, fear, frustration, or emotional conflict can become a continuing demand on the body.
This does not mean that we should try to eliminate all negative emotions.
Human beings naturally experience many emotions.
The goal is to learn how to live with them appropriately and avoid unnecessary, prolonged depletion.
Emotional well-being is therefore part of complete health.
Principle Three: Sustain Both
The third principle is:
SUSTAIN BOTH
This means sustaining:
the Life Energy we build
and
the free flow of Life Energy we establish.
This is what makes Total Life Energy a long-term health system.
A person might temporarily increase energy through an intense practice.
Another person might temporarily feel better after a dramatic change.
But if the approach cannot be maintained, it may not provide lasting health.
TLE therefore asks:
Can this way of living continue throughout life?
Why Sustainability Matters
Our bodies must live every day.
Not once a week.
Not once a month.
Not only when we are sick.
Therefore, health practices need to fit into real life.
A practice that requires constant struggle may eventually be abandoned.
A diet that cannot be maintained may not provide lasting benefits.
An exercise routine that continually overwhelms the body may create new problems.
A lifestyle that ignores natural rhythms may eventually deplete the body.
The goal is therefore not temporary improvement.
The goal is:
A way of living that continually supports Life Energy throughout life.
Build, Free, and Sustain Are Not Separate Steps
This point is critical.
The Three Principles should not be understood as:
- First build.
- Then free.
- Then sustain.
Instead:
Build. Free. Sustain.
They operate together.
For example, eating appropriate food can:
- help build Life Energy
- support its proper use and flow
- contribute to sustaining both
Appropriate exercise can:
- build Life Energy
- free its flow
- help sustain the body’s strength and vitality
Appropriate daily living can:
- build Life Energy
- free its flow
- sustain both
This is why all three foundations of TLE can operate according to all three principles.
The Three Foundations and Three Principles
The TLE framework can now be understood as a matrix.
| Build | Free | Sustain | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Life Energy Diet™ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Life Energy Exercise™ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Life Energy Living™ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
This is a very important distinction.
The three foundations are not assigned one principle each.
For example:
Diet is not only for building.
Exercise is not only for freeing.
Living is not only for sustaining.
All three foundations contribute to all three principles.
Why All Three Foundations Are Necessary
The human body is not divided into three independent systems called food, exercise, and lifestyle.
Everything is connected.
Food affects the body.
Movement affects the body.
Sleep affects the body.
Emotions affect the body.
Environment affects the body.
Daily habits affect the body.
These influences interact.
Therefore, complete health cannot depend on only one foundation.
Life Energy Diet™
supports health through food and nourishment.
Life Energy Exercise™
supports health through appropriate movement and Life Energy practices.
Life Energy Living™
supports health through the way we organize and live our daily lives.
All three are necessary.
No One Foundation Should Take Life Energy Away
This is another important TLE principle.
If one part of life supports the body while another continually depletes it, the overall result may still be poor.
For example:
Someone may eat carefully but exercise excessively.
Someone may exercise appropriately but repeatedly sacrifice sleep.
Someone may eat well and exercise but live under continual emotional strain.
Someone may have a healthy daily routine but eat foods inappropriate for their individual condition.
Therefore, we cannot look at one part of life and ignore the rest.
Every foundation should support Life Energy rather than continually taking more from the body than it can sustain.
This is why TLE is a complete system.
The Three Principles Apply to the Whole Person
The principles apply beyond physical health.
They can be considered in relation to:
- physical activity
- food
- sleep
- emotions
- thoughts
- mental activity
- relationships
- work
- environment
- spiritual life
- sexuality
- social circumstances
- daily responsibilities
Every part of life can influence how we build, use, flow, and sustain Life Energy.
This is why TLE does not separate “health” from “life.”
Life itself is the context of health.
The Three Principles Apply to Every Individual
Although the principles are universal, their application is individual.
This follows directly from Article 7:
Nature’s principles are universal. Their application can be individual.
One person may need more rest.
Another may need more appropriate movement.
One person may need to change the type of food they eat.
Another may need to change when they eat.
One person may have excess demands on their Life Energy.
Another may have difficulty maintaining sufficient energy.
Therefore, the question is not:
“What does everyone have to do?”
The deeper question is:
“How do I apply these universal principles appropriately to my own body and circumstances?”
This is why Know Your Body comes first.
The Three Principles and Natural Law
The Three Principles are not arbitrary rules invented to create a health program.
They reflect a broader understanding of nature.
Everything living requires energy.
Energy must be obtained.
Energy must be used.
Energy must move.
Energy must be maintained.
Life cannot continue without these processes.
The same basic understanding can therefore be applied from the larger natural world to the human body.
This is the fundamental direction of the Total Life Energy framework:
Understand the universe.
↓
Understand nature.
↓
Understand the human body.
↓
Understand your individual body.
↓
Understand your daily life.
↓
Learn how to Build, Free, and Sustain Life Energy.
The Three Principles and Healing
The principles also provide a framework for understanding healing.
When the body is struggling, we can ask:
Is Life Energy insufficient?
Then we need to understand how to Build it.
Is Life Energy not flowing or functioning appropriately?
Then we need to understand how to Free its flow.
Are improvements temporary or continually lost?
Then we need to understand how to Sustain Both.
This creates a much broader perspective than simply asking:
“What disease do I have?”
The TLE perspective asks:
“What conditions in my body and life are preventing healthy Life Energy from being built, flowing, and sustained?”
The Three Principles and Prevention
The same framework applies before illness appears.
Prevention is not simply avoiding disease.
It means supporting the body’s ability to maintain itself.
Therefore:
Build before depletion becomes severe.
Free the flow before problems become deeply established.
Sustain both before temporary improvements disappear.
This makes the principles useful not only for people who are already struggling with health but also for people who want to maintain vitality throughout life.
The Three Principles and Longevity
Longevity is not simply adding more years.
The deeper goal is to maintain the ability to live actively and meaningfully as long as possible.
A long life with severe weakness and constant suffering is not the same as a long, vibrant life.
Therefore, TLE connects longevity with Life Energy.
The goal is to cultivate the conditions that allow the body to continue living with sufficient Life Energy throughout the years.
Longevity begins with how we care for Life Energy today.
A Simple Way to Evaluate Any Health Practice
The Three Principles can become a practical tool.
Whenever you encounter a new diet, exercise, treatment, habit, supplement, health trend, or lifestyle recommendation, ask:
1. Does it Build Life Energy?
Does it genuinely support the body’s energy and nourishment?
2. Does it Free the Flow of Life Energy?
Does it help the body use and circulate its energy appropriately?
3. Can it Sustain Both?
Can the body and the individual continue this practice appropriately over the long term?
Then ask one more question:
Is it appropriate for my individual body and circumstances?
This final question connects the Three Principles back to Know Your Body.
Build, Free, Sustain Is a Way of Thinking
The greatest value of these principles is not memorizing three words.
It is learning to think differently about health.
Instead of asking only:
“What should I eat?”
Ask:
“What food helps my body build and sustain Life Energy?”
Instead of:
“What exercise burns the most calories?”
Ask:
“What movement is appropriate for my body and helps build, free, and sustain Life Energy?”
Instead of:
“What is the fastest way to lose weight?”
Ask:
“What changes can improve my health without continually depleting my Life Energy?”
Instead of:
“What treatment fixes this symptom?”
Ask:
“What conditions in my body and daily life need to change?”
This is the shift from chasing individual solutions to understanding fundamental principles.

The Core Message of Article 9
If readers remember only one thing from this article, it should be this:
Health is not built by one food, one exercise, one treatment, or one habit. It is built by continually supporting Life Energy—building it, freeing its flow, and sustaining both.
And the three foundations provide the practical means:
Life Energy Diet™
Life Energy Exercise™
Life Energy Living™
Each can:
BUILD. FREE. SUSTAIN.
And all three are necessary for a complete approach to lasting health.
